Your Daily Crisis Update: Trump Signals That Iran Ceasefire is Over

After Iran attacked oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, the U.S. responded with strikes on launch sites at Kharg Island. Today, Ynet reports that U.S. President Donald Trump said more strikes are likely tonight, signaling that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) and ceasefire with Iran are effectively over. A new U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz may also be under consideration after Iran asserted authority over the strategic waterway following the exchange of strikes.

Despite Trump declaring earlier Wednesday that the ceasefire and memorandum of understanding with Iran were over, the exchange of fire appeared to pause. Kuwait reported that several power lines were damaged after Iranian attacks involving two missiles and 13 drones.

Trump’s latest warning, however, signaled that Washington may be preparing to renew military action. He has not formally announced the scope or targets of any additional strikes.

The dispute centers on shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz. Under the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, Tehran was expected to guarantee safe passage for commercial vessels without payment and hold dialogue with Oman over future management and maritime services in the waterway.

Speaking from the NATO summit, Trump said negotiations with Iran had become “a waste of time.” He added that U.S. mediators could continue holding talks but said he was not confident they would succeed. During yesterday’s operation, more than 80 Iranian targets were struck, including air defense systems, radar installations, and specialized anti-ship missile sites. This also included up to 60 attack boats used to target oil vessels.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had been scheduled to visit Israel this week to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but the developments with Iran have led to the trip’s cancellation. Trump also said he plans to give Iran “a little warning” before any strikes tonight but still intends to “hit them hard.”

The Fellowship and our supporters pray for protection of the United States and Israelduring this uncertain time, as the Iranian regime may turn its attention toward the Holy Land.
