Anna Wechsler scores the winning goal as Santa Fe High held off the Cardinals’ challenge, 1-0

They say you can throw won-lost records out the window, and the Santa Fe High girl’s soccer team agrees.
Playing at home Saturday against non-district foe Robertson, the Demonettes owned an impressive record of 5-1-1. The Cardinals 1-5-1.
No matter, it was scoreless until Santa Fe’s Anna Wechsler scored late in the match to escape with a 1-0 triumph.
That’s why records are secondary as the Demonettes learned. Their next match is on Sept. 17 at Taos.
Santa Fe High boys also caries an impressive mark of 5-1 and plays next on Saturday at non-district foe Santa Teresa, which is 4-3-1.
The Demons opened with a 2-0 zip over St. Michael’s, followed by the Horsemen winning the rematch, 3-2. Since those two matches, Santa Fe has won five in a row, scoring 23 goals and allowing only one as the other matches were shutouts.
St. Michael’s boys turned back non-district foeMonte del Sol, 4-1, at Alto Park. The Horsemen are 3-2-1 and the Dragons dropped their third in a row.
