El Vado Lake State Park Announces Closure of North El Vado Recreation Area

By EMNRD

El Vado Lake State Park will close access to its boat ramp on North El Vado Recreation Area effective immediately.  Due to low water levels, the boat ramp closure will prevent property damage during launching and loading of boats at this access point.  However, access to the lake remains open at the Main El Vado area for recreational activities including shoreline fishing, canoeing, kayaking and other paddle craft use.

The safety of visitors and their property when accessing state parks is always a priority and the current conditions are unsafe for recreational access at North El Vado Recreation Area.

Many State Parks are currently operating under reduced hours and days of operation in line with the current public health order. Please “know before you go” and check our website for current hours. Wearing a mask or cloth face covering is mandatory in public settings except when eating, drinking, or swimming or unless a healthcare provider instructs otherwise, and violators could face citations for not complying voluntarily. State Parks remain open to New Mexico residents only.
