Spanish Colonial Arts Society

In 2021 SCAS completed its first strategic plan since 2002. The process began with a survey of our community: We wanted your opinions to be heard first. I am writing you today because we seek your opinion again.

We have now completed the first phase of our strategic plan—to improve the administration of Traditional Spanish Market. In the second phase, we will address the need to “rebrand/rename the museum to promote our educational mission.” Although the organization as a whole will continue to be called the Spanish Colonial Arts Society, changing the name of the museum is an important part of a larger effort to improve communication with our audiences.

A primary reason for a new museum name is to better promote our educational mission. We recognize that the current museum name is misleading to visitors who assume that we display exclusively Spanish colonial art, whereas we exhibit primarily art from northern New Mexico—artists from the past and current working artists. Other pieces from around the world are on display for historical and comparative purposes.

We value your relationship with us and ask that you provide us with responses to several questions to inform our thinking about a new museum name, help us improve communication with our audiences, and explore new opportunities to serve our community and visitors.

Please click the button below to complete the short survey (only 13 questions). Please note we are using an outside party to conduct this survey. You may add your name to the survey if you wish; otherwise, your submission will be anonymous.

Please respond by Monday, March 18.

Thank you for your involvement and support. We appreciate you very much.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Berkley
