Architecture Lovers: Don’t Miss This Rare Two-Day Event Honoring John Gaw Meem

Limited Tickets Available Through Wednesday, April 8

Architecture and history enthusiasts are invited to a special two-day celebration of John Gaw Meem’s enduring legacy, featuring exclusive tours, lectures, and receptions in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The event, hosted by the Spanish Colonial Arts Society in partnership with the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture (MIAC), highlights Meem’s regional design influence across New Mexico and supports the Laboratory of Anthropology Director’s Residence, home to the Nuevo Mexicano Heritage Arts Museum.

Day 1: Thursday, April 10 – Los Poblanos, Albuquerque

Only five spots remain for the intimate guided tour of Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm, a rare example of Meem’s residential ranch style nestled in Albuquerque’s pastoral North Valley. Guests will enjoy a walking tour of the grounds with renowned experts Dr. Audra Bellmore, Meem Curator and architectural historian at UNM, and Judith Phillips, landscape designer and author. The day concludes with a three-course lunch and conversation with Executive Director Matthew Rembe in the elegant La Quinta Event Center.

Tickets for Thursday’s event are $125 per person and limited to just 25 guests.

Event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Day 2: Saturday, April 12 – Museum Hill, Santa Fe

Saturday’s program opens with a behind-the-scenes tour of Meem’s 1931 Laboratory of Anthropology, a National Register-listed masterpiece located on Museum Hill. Led by MIAC curators Tony Chavarria and Elisa Phelps, the morning session offers unprecedented access to areas of the building typically closed to the public.

In the afternoon, guests will gather at the Laboratory of Anthropology Director’s Residence—now the NMHA Museum—for a talk by UNM Regents Professor Chris Wilson, author of Facing Southwest: The Life & Houses of John Gaw Meem. The event concludes with a wine reception and book signing, with attendees entered into a raffle to win rare, out-of-print copies of Wilson’s book.

Tickets for Saturday’s event are $100, with a 50-person capacity.

Event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Two-Day Package Available

For those who wish to attend both events, a discounted two-day ticket is available for $175. Only five of these tickets remain.

Reserve by Wednesday, April 8
