Instead, she was told she couldn’t pray anywhere at the school – not at the flagpole, not even in the parking lot before school began. The erroneous reasoning by the principal? Students might see it.
That’s a clear violation of the Constitution.
That teacher, Staci Barber, wasn’t leading students in prayer. She wasn’t disrupting class. She simply wanted to pray quietly, on her own time. For that, school officials ordered her to hide her faith.
The Supreme Court has already ruled that public employees don’t have to “shed” their faith at work. A federal judge agreed with us and ruled in Staci’s favor. But school officials won’t let it go – we need a victory.
TODAY’s oral argument in federal appeals court is ONE STEP before the Supreme Court. The outcome could determine whether teachers’ faith nationwide is silenced.
