Santa Fe School of Cooking Market
Bringing the World to Santa Fe Since 1989
Having a thoughtfully curated, well-stocked, and lively Culinary Market has been part of the School’s mission since 1989. We’re proud of the way the Market brings the world to Santa Fe while sharing Santa Fe with the world.
From cookware and tableware to specialty foods and artisan crafts, the Market reflects the spirit of discovery that has defined the School for decades.
Meet Nurit
Nurit joined the School about six months ago and immediately brought a vibrant new look to the Market. After recently relocating to Santa Fe from New York, she brought with her years of experience in retail merchandising.
Her background includes work in upscale clothing boutiques, accessory shops, and even a specialty apothecary focused on unique home goods. As the owner of a boutique fitness center, she also developed extensive experience in merchandising and sales.
With her creative eye and enthusiasm, Nurit has transformed the shop into a colorful and festive space that invites exploration.
La Chamba Cookware
La Chamba cookware has long been a favorite in both home kitchens and professional cooking classrooms. Handmade in the village of La Chamba, Colombia, these beautiful black clay vessels are crafted using traditional methods that date back centuries.
The clay is mined from the banks of the Magdalena River and shaped by artisans whose families have practiced this craft for generations. Each piece is stone-smoothed and fired on site, giving the cookware its distinctive black finish.
From soup pots and casseroles to roasters and tagines, La Chamba cookware moves effortlessly from stove to table, making it both practical and stunning.
Sparkle and Shine
Hand-thrown pottery by Obranovich creates a striking canvas for any meal. Each piece carries the character and warmth of handcrafted ceramics.
Verve glassware adds color and personality to the table. Many pieces are made from recycled beer and wine bottles, creating a beautiful second life for glass.
Dress It Up
Colorful table runners, playful napkins, and cheerful kitchen towels can instantly brighten a kitchen routine.
Add handcrafted Taos Twist flatware for a finishing touch. Made from 18/8 stainless steel and forged using traditional blacksmith techniques in Thailand, these pieces combine durability with timeless elegance.
Home Chefs Rule
While the School’s signature cookbooks may not focus on tagine recipes, they certainly inspire creativity in the kitchen.
Our demonstration class “New Mexico Meets the Middle East” brings together bold regional flavors. The menu includes achiote and lime-marinated chicken with pistachio green mole, saffron squash and sweet corn tamales, and a fresh salad with a homemade dressing that might convince you to abandon bottled dressings forever.
And to finish? A honey-sweet baklava that brings everything together beautifully.
Fun Finds
The Market shelves are filled with spices, savory treats, sweet indulgences, and plenty of beloved local favorites.
From traditional chile products from across New Mexico to specialty chocolates from Señor Murphy, there’s always something new to discover. Festive gift boxes combine many of these favorites, making them perfect for celebrations and special occasions.
Santa Fe Craft Tradition
Santa Fe is known as “The City Different,” and as the first UNESCO Creative City in the United States, craftsmanship has always been central to its identity.
The Market proudly showcases folk art and traditional crafts, including the colorful majolica pottery of internationally recognized artist Gorky Gonzalez of Guanajuato, Mexico. His workshop has dedicated decades to preserving this historic ceramic tradition.
