The New License Year Begins Soon
Early sales of over-the-counter fishing and hunting licenses for the 2026–2027 license year are now underway.

If you purchased a Game Hunting or Game Hunting & Fishing license through the recent draw application, it is now available in your account under “My Purchases.”
The 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 Hunting Rules and Information Booklets are available in both English and Spanish online or at Department offices and vendors statewide.

The 2026 New Mexico Elk Enhancement Tag Auction Ends FRIDAY
The New Mexico Department of Wildlife, in partnership with Ducks Unlimited, is hosting the annual
Elk Enhancement Tag Auction.
Proceeds directly support elk through habitat improvement, conservation, research, and wildlife management projects across New Mexico.
Bidding closes at 6 p.m. MDT on Friday.

A Reminder for Turkey Hunters
Spring turkey season runs April 15 – May 15, with a youth-only weekend scheduled for April 10–12.
The bag limit is two bearded turkeys, except in draw-permitted areas.
To ensure legal possession, the beard and a patch of feathers must remain attached to any harvested turkey.
New Mexico is home to multiple turkey subspecies, including Merriam’s, Rio Grande, and Gould’s.
