Iran Attacks Emirates While U.S. Strikes Boats

Iran fired more than a dozen missiles and drones at the United Arab Emirates—the first such attack on the Gulf state since the April ceasefire. The Times of Israel also reported that the U.S. military fired on Iranian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz as President Donald Trump seeks to reopen the waterway. One of the missiles aimed at the UAE was intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome system.

The UAE Defense Ministry said its air defenses had engaged 15 missiles and four drones fired by Iran. Authorities in the eastern emirate of Fujairah said one drone sparked a fire at a key oil facility, wounding three Indian nationals. The British military reported two cargo vessels ablaze off the UAE.

Missile alerts were issued Monday urging residents to find shelter — the first such alerts since the ceasefire began nearly a month ago. Commercial planes bound for the UAE — home to the global travel hubs of Dubai and Abu Dhabi — turned around midair.

The country condemned what it called “renewed treacherous Iranian aggression” and called for an immediate halt to the attacks.

The extent of the attack on Fujairah was unclear, but it is the terminus of a pipeline the UAE has used to avoid shipping some of its oil through the strait. The emirate on the Gulf of Oman is home to extensive oil storage facilities and is the UAE’s main sea access outside the strait.

Since the attacks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have remained on high alert. The Home Front Command has issued no changes to civilian guidelines. Meanwhile, U.S.-led escort operations have enabled some merchant vessels to safely transit the strait. U.S. Central Command also reported that six Iranian boats were sunk by helicopters. President Trump has warned against any attempts to target U.S. ships.

A senior U.S. general stated that the attacks remain below the threshold that would trigger a resumption of full-scale war. Israel and the United States are keeping all options on the table to pressure Iran back into negotiations. The Fellowship and its supporters continue to pray that this can be achieved peacefully.
