Nine Wins for Families in One Legislative Session

Kansas Family Voice just wrapped up what its president, Brittany Jones, calls one of the most intense legislative sessions the organization has ever experienced.

In just one session, lawmakers overrode the governor’s vetoes on nine pro-family bills covering a wide range of issues affecting women, children and families.

Recorded live at SoConCon 2026, this special edition of The Family Policy Alliance Report features guest host Grace Youngson in conversation with Brittany, who took the helm of Kansas Family Voice less than a year ago. She takes us behind the scenes of anextraordinary legislative year and the stories that drove some of its biggest battles.

In this conversation, you’ll hear:

  • The stories of girls in Kansas schools that helped fuel a decade-long effort to protect women’s privacy
  • How Kansas created a new way for women to hold abortion providers accountable when they don’t receive informed consent
  • Why the App Store Accountability Act (ASAA) stalled in the Kansas House this year — and why Brittany says telling parents to “just parent your kids” isn’t enough when they’re up against a trillion-dollar technology industry (a fight FPA senior fellow Melissa McKay, an author of the ASAA, is also leading)
  • How Brittany helped lead a Supreme Court brief on girls’ sports signed by dozens of Family Policy Councils and more than 200 female legislators

Nine veto overrides make for an impressive headline. But the stories behind those votes reveal what’s at stake for women, children and families in Kansas and why state-level policy fights can have consequences far beyond one legislative session.

Watch the full conversation to hear what happened in Kansas this year and how those battles – and the ones ahead – could impact you and your family.
