After a number of one-run games either won or lost, Los Alamos’ baseball
team begins District 2-5A play Wednesday with a visit from Albuquerque Del Norte.
The one-run contests continued for the Hilltoppers (6-7) as they split a non district doubleheader at Bloomfield. Los Alamos won the opener, 14-13, and lost the closer, 6-5. This adds to three other previous single-run game.
Before this, there was a doubleheader sweep at Albuquerque Sandia Prep, 15-8 and 4-3. The Toppers also lost 7-6 to Moriarty, and 5-4 to Kirtland Central in recent outings.
Their runs for and runs against also tell the tight game story. They have scored 75 times and allowed 78. Del Norte comes in with a 2-5 overall record.
In softball, Santa Fe Indian School advanced its record to 8-1 overall by shutting down visiting West Las Vegas, 4-0, to drop the Dons to 3-3. It had been scheduled as a doubleheader, but they only played one. The lone setback for the Braves was 8-6 against visiting Capital High.
