Officers Delivering Info, Engaging in Conversation at Homes and Businesses
By City of Santa Fe
Santa Fe, NM – As the Santa Fe Police Department Continues to engage in community policing efforts citywide, our officers will be knocking on doors in your neighborhood this Spring to spread the word about the “See Something, Say Something” initiative to prevent crime and help keep neighborhoods safe. At homes and businesses throughout Santa Fe, officers will take time to meet and greet neighbors, answer questions, and share helpful information with tips and contacts for city services.
Santa Fe Police Chief Andrew Padilla said, “It’s important for our police officers to build rapport with the community, because we want and need residents to open up about concerns like crime in their neighborhoods.”
He added, “By getting officers out of their cars and into our neighborhoods, we can address some of those concerns immediately, build relationships to follow-up on others, and relay information to the Community Relations Unit. Most important, we’ll build relationships so that our neighbors know us and feel comfortable reaching out to us—it makes the SFPD more user-friendly.”
Fliers left at each door or with each citizen will offer quick reference numbers for concerns they have with everything from streets and parks to criminal activity in their neighborhoods.
