AARPNM Cancels Santa Fe Document Shredding Event

Major winter storm threat was deciding factor

Santa Fe – Due to the threat of a major winter storm, AARP New Mexico is postponing its Operation Stop Scams event, offering free document shredding, scheduled to be held at the Santa Fe Place Mall, in Santa Fe, on Saturday, April 29th.  The event was free and open to the public.

“We were ready to go and had everything in place but decided to error on the side of caution to ensure the safety of the public and our volunteers, and therefore postpone the event,” said Gary Williams, AARP New Mexico Associate State Director for Community Outreach.

“We hate to do it knowing that so many people look forward to being able to get their documents safely disposed of but will be looking at rescheduling in the near future,” Williams said.

AARP New Mexico will let people know when the event will be rescheduled.

The AARP Fraud Watch Network brings fraud-fighting efforts to consumers nationwide through “Operation: Stop Scams” — a month-long series of events in communities coast-to-coast, as AARP state organizations sponsor more than 150 free local events in nearly every state and the District of Columbia from Friday, April 14, through Tuesday, May 16, 2017.
