2017 HEALTH FAIR SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 24,2017

Community is Invited to Attend Free Event Hosted by Pueblo of Pojoaque

(Santa Fe, NM) Officials with the Pueblo of Pojoaque have announced plans for an upcoming 2017 Health Fair scheduled for Friday, March 24 at Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino.

“The Health Fair is very important to us as a community,” according to Christine Gabaldon, Director of Marketing. “We are absolutely committed to tribal member, employee and community health education, prevention and access to quality services.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with healthcare and wellness professionals from around the area, ask questions about health concerns and find out important medical information to keep the entire family active and healthy. Some exhibitors will offer on-site health screenings, distribute valuable educational materials and offer tips on lifestyle choices that promote good health habits.

“For women in need of testing, we’ll have a state of the art mobile mammogram unit on site, too,” added Gabaldon. “Mammograms remain an effective medical tool in the fight against breast cancer, which is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, according to the American Cancer Society.”

Mammograms must be scheduled in advance, said Gabaldon, by calling 1-888-233-6121. In many cases, health insurance will cover the cost of the test, she added.

With an emphasis on screening, education and prevention, the 2017 Health Fair will feature a long line up of healthcare service providers including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Presbyterian, Delta Dental, Nordic Naturals, United Blood Services and many more.

The 2017 Health Fair is open from 11am to 4pm on Friday, March 24 and is free to attend. There is no charge for parking, and the Pueblo encourages the entire community to participate. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day.
