Lujan calls Trump tax plan “a dream-come-true” for wealthy Americans

Lawmaker calls tax plan “a dream-come-true” for the wealthiest Americans while doing little for middle class or working families

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Congressman Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) today issued the following statement after the White House released the outline of President Trump’s tax plan:

“Instead of focusing on middle-class and working families as he promised, President Trump’s tax plan is a dream-come-true for billionaires. The White House says the final details haven’t been worked out yet, but the specifics we have seen dramatically benefit the wealthiest Americans while doing almost nothing for middle-class and working families. President Trump also fails to explain how his deficit-exploding tax plan will actually be paid for.

America cannot afford a trickle-down tax plan that hands multi-billion dollar tax breaks to the wealthiest on the backs of the middle class. There is room for bipartisan tax reform, but it must be fiscally-responsible and it must not come at the expense of hard-working people living paycheck to paycheck.”
