Santa Fe Public Schools Music Programs Receive National Recognition

Santa Fe, NM –The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation has recognized Santa Fe Public Schools for its outstanding commitment to music education with a “Best Communities for Music Education” designation. According to NAMM, “the award recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who have made music education part of the core curriculum. Designations are given to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.”

This is the fourth consecutive year Santa Fe Public Schools has earned this distinction, and it has joined 527 out of 13,515 districts or schools nationwide in sharing the title. The recognition is a result of district-wide efforts to improve and build music programs.

Santa Fe Public Schools treats music education as a core academic subject. All schools offer general/vocal music at the elementary level, and nearly 4000 students grades 4-12 participate in elective programs in band, choir, guitar, piano, and string orchestra.
