Andres and Vicki Zamora, owners of McDonalds in Santa Fe, hosted Santa Fe Police Department’s community event “Coffee with a Cop” on Monday evening at their restaurant off Pacheco Street. Coffee, hot pies, refreshments and other snacks were served.

“Coffee with a Cop” is a regular community outreach program by SFPD where public safety questions are discussed, and relationships with the community are built. Santa Fe Police Chief Patrick Gallagher and officers from the department visited with community members for over two hours.

The “Coffee with a Cop” event also fell on the anniversary of National Police Week. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Earlier in the day a memorial service was held at the U.S. Capitol to honor the law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty over the past year.
