Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.

Catches of the week:
  • Abiquiu Lake: Derrick Sandoval of Santa Fe caught a 5.42-pound walleye May 30. He was using a large crank bait.
  • Cochiti Lake: Alex Behrend of Santa Fe caught a 22-inch walleye June 3. He was using a Jawbreaker spoon.
  • Conchas Lake: Russ Schuler of Albuquerque caught a 21-inch walleye June 2. He was using a shad colored wally diver with a night crawler trailer.
  • Cowles Ponds:  Wyatt Zamora, 3, of Los Lunas, caught and released a brown trout June 2. It was his first fish and he was using salmon eggs.
  • Fenton Lake: Kristen Mills of Albuquerque caught a 20-inch rainbow trout June 2. She was using a night crawler.
  • Green Meadow Lake: Trevor Stockdale of Hobbs caught a 21-pound, 4-ounce carp May 31. He was using corn.
  • Morphy Lake: Torie Valdez, 4, caught a 17.5-inch rainbow trout June 3. She was using PowerBait.
  • Eagle Nest Lake: Isaiah Lorenzen, 13, of Rio Rancho, caught a 14-inch trout May 29. He was fishing from the bank and using cheese PowerBait.
  • Jemez River: Michael Anthony Skelton, 14, of Rio Rancho, caught a 14-inch rainbow trout June 3. He was fishing the river below the Gilman Tunnel turnoff and using salmon eggs and pink PowerBait.
  • Lake Van: Raeanna Romero, 18, of Roswell, caught a 22-inch channel catfish May 31. She was using chicken liver.
  • Rio Grande: Charity Otero of Socorro caught a 24-inch, 8-pound blue catfish May 29. She was using chicken liver on a #2 hook.
  • Storrie Lake:  Patrick Gallegos, 7, of Las Vegas, caught a 19-inch rainbow trout June 1. He was using chartreuse turbo PowerBait.
  • Tingley Beach: Michael Certo of Albuquerque caught a 24-inch, 5-pound and a 20-inch, 3.5-pound channel catfish June 2. He was using shrimp. Erin Montano,10, and Gabby Montano, 8, of Rio Rancho, caught a 26-inch and an 18-inch channel catfish June 3. They were using worms.
  • Ute Lake: Ron Gibel of Colorado Springs caught and released a 5.02-pound largemouth bass.
The following reports came in late but deserve a mention:
  • Conchas Lake: Dewey Loveless of Albuquerque caught a 31-inch, 9.4-pound walleye May 26. He was using brown curly tail grub with night crawlers.
  • Cowles Ponds: Carly Smith,12, of Edgewood, caught a 16-inch rainbow trout May 20. She was using PowerBait.
  • Laguna Del Campo: Jarred Chavez, 19, of Santa Fe, caught a 17-inch rainbow trout May 28. He was using worms.
  • Pecos River: Renden Duran, 9, of Roswell caught a 14-inch largemouth bass while fishing below Sumner Lake May 28. He was using a worm.
  • Storrie Lake: Natalie Chavez and Lexi Chavez caught limits of trout May 29. They were using salmon peach PowerBait.
  • Navajo Lake: Tiffany Snyder of Las Vegas, Nevada caught and released a 37-inch northern pike May 28. She was using a 5-inch jerk bait.
  • Ute Lake: James Parkey, 4, of Portales, caught and released his first fish all by himself May 26. He was using a white jig head with a white grub. He also caught two white bass on the same lure and two smallmouth bass and one walleye while trolling a shallow crank bait.

Northeast 

Charette Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Clayton Lake: Fishing was very good using assorted PowerBait for rainbow trout. A few largemouth bass were caught by anglers using blade baits and crank baits. We had no other reports. Due to low water conditions, the boat ramp remains closed. The 17th Annual Clayton Lake Trout Derby will be held June 10 and 11. For additional information, contact the State Park office at (575) 374-8808.
Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron on Monday was 34 cfs. Trout fishing was good using San Juan worms, golden stone fly nymphs, baetis nymphs, worms and Fire Balls. Trout fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was fair to good using Pistol Petes, PowerBait, Fire Balls and worms.
Conchas Lake: Fishing was fair to good using tubes, senkos, jigs, jerk baits, crank baits, creature baits and curly tail grubs for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using crank baits and minnows for white bass. Russ Schuler of Albuquerque reported that he, his wife Renate, and David and Amanda Whitt caught and released a large number of white bass and smallmouth bass this past week. They were using white, black and pumpkin colored tubes. Renate caught and release a 19-inch smallmouth. She was using a white tube. Fishing was fair using jig and minnow combinations, spinner minnow combinations, curly tail grubs and crank baits for walleye. Fishing was fair to good using night crawlers, stink bait and cut bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Costilla Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Cowles Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and Gulp eggs for trout.
Coyote Creek: Trout fishing was fair to good using elk hair caddis, copper John Barrs, worms and salmon eggs.
Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait and worms for trout.
Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, Pistol Petes, Kastmasters and Platte River specials. Anglers did well from the bank and from boats. Anglers fishing for trout also caught a few small kokanee salmon. Fishing was fair to good using worms for perch. We had no other reports.
Gallinas River: Fishing was good using wooly buggers, San Juan worms, night crawlers and Gulp eggs for trout.
Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Alice: Trout fishing was good using PowerBait, worms, Pistol Petes and Kastmasters.
Lake Maloya: Trout fishing was very good using Pistol Petes, wooly buggers, PowerBait and Kastmasters for fish up to 3 pounds.
Los Pinos River: Fishing was fair to good using worms, Fire Balls, wooly buggers and San Juan worms close to the bank for trout.
Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Monastery Lake: Fishing was very good using wooly buggers, Pistol Petes, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.
Morphy Lake: Fishing was fair to good using Pistol Petes, wooly buggers, spinners, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.
Pecos River: Streamflow near Pecos on Monday was 221 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using worms, Fire Balls, San Juan worms, stone fly nymphs and prince nymphs for trout.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday was 271 cfs. Fishing was fair using night crawlers, PowerBait, night crawlers and wooly buggers for trout.
Red River City Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.
Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday at the Taos Junction Bridge was 2,750 cfs. Fishing on the upper river was slow with just a few trout caught by anglers using San Juan worms, wooly buggers, poundmeisters and spoons.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow near Valdez on Monday was 174 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: As of Monday, stream flow near Terrero was 91 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday was 169 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Barbara River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was very good using wooly buggers, Pistol Petes, gold spoons, Fisher Chick spinners, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. We had no other reports.
Shuree Ponds: Open for the season July 1.
Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: Fishing was very good using garlic cheese, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout up to 19.5 inches. We had no other reports.
Ute Lake: Fishing for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass was good using senkos, tubes, finesse worms and grubs. A few were also caught by anglers using top water lures in the early morning hours. Fishing for white bass was good trolling crank baits near the trees in 10 to 12 feet of water. Fishing was good trolling crank baits and jigging with leeches in 12 to 18 feet of water for walleye. Fishing was good using stink bait and chicken liver in shallow water for catfish. Fishing for bluegill was good using worms under a bobber. Fishing for crappie was slow. We had no other reports. The surface water temp was in the low 70s.
Winsor Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Northwest

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was fair using curly tail grubs, senkos, jerk baits and crank baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing for walleye was fair to good using minnows, bottom bouncer night crawler combinations and crank baits. A few perch were caught by anglers using worms. Fishing for catfish was slow but a few were caught by anglers using cut bait and liver. We had no other reports.
Animas River: Water flow near Aztec on Monday morning was 3,820 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains:  We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bluewater Lake:  Fishing was fair to good using spoons, large crank baits and large flies for tiger muskies. Fishing for trout was slow with just a few caught by anglers using PowerBait, corn and worms. We had no other reports.
Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice due to danger from falling trees. They are not expected to open this year.
Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 1,540 cfs and 1,010 cfs respectively. Fishing below El Vado was fair to good using weighted wooly buggers, spoons and worms for trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu. NEW SPECIAL TROUT WATER: The river from the USGS gauging station to the confluence of the Rio Nutrias is now catch and release only using single barbless hook artificial flies and lures.
Cochiti Lake: Fishing was slow but there were a few smallmouth bass, white bass and walleye caught by anglers using tubes, spoons, crank baits and spinner baits. We had no other reports.
El Vado Lake: Fishing was very good using curly tail grubs, worms and crank baits for smallmouth bass. We had no other reports.
Fenton Lake: Fishing was good using assorted colors and scents of PowerBait, Fire Balls, Kastmasters, chamois leeches, wooly buggers, caddis imitations and Pistol Petes for trout. Austin Wetsch reported a great trip with his wife and mom. The three of them caught and released numerous trout, three of which were 18 inches in length. They were trolling Pistol Petes and spoons.
Heron Lake: Fishing from the bank and from boats was fair to good using spinners and yellow, salmon peach and garlic scented PowerBait for rainbow trout. Several large carp were caught by anglers participating in the annual carp derby. They were using corn and worms. We had no other reports.
Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 61 cfs. Fishing was very good using night crawlers, salmon eggs, stone fly nymphs, copper John Barrs, San Juan worms and Fire Balls for trout. Fishing on the East Fork was good using San Juan worms, small prince nymphs and worms for brown trout. Trout fishing on the San Antonio was very good using elk hair caddis flies, San Juan worms, worms and spinners. Fishing on the Rio Cebolla was good using worms, Fire Balls and San Juan worms. Fishing on the Rio Las Vacas was good using Fire Balls, worms, Panther Martins, copper John Barrs and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs. We had no other reports.
Laguna del Campo: No reports from anglers this week.
Lake Farmington: Nonmotorized watercraft are now allowed on Lake Farmington. Fees are $50 for the season or $5 daily. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: Fishing was very good using brush hogs, worms, senkos, jigs, swim baits, jerk baits and crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing for crappie was fair using small tubes and grubs. Fishing was fair using swim baits and crank baits for northern pike. Fishing for kokanee salmon was slow with just a few caught by anglers trolling Arnies deep. We had no other reports.
San Gregorio Lake: Our first report this year was not a good one. Chris Schneller made a trip up here this past week and had no success. He reported there was not one nibble by either fly nor bait.
San Juan River: Stream flow from Navajo Reservoir on Monday was 4,650 cfs. Trout fishing from drift boats was fair to good using San Juan worms, egg patterns, wooly buggers, large bead-head pheasant tail nymphs and orange and red annelids. We had no other reports.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using spinners, PowerBait, Fire Balls, wooly buggers, Pistol Petes and worms for trout.
Tingley Beach: Fishing was good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was very good using shrimp, hot dogs, liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Southwest

Alumni Pond: Fishing was good using worms and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using jigs and worms for bluegill. We had no other reports.
Bill Evans Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Caballo Lake: Fishing was fair using crank baits, curly tail grubs and minnows for white bass. A few catfish were caught by anglers fishing at night and using cut bait and liver. We had no other reports.
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits, minnows and grubs for white bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, tubes, minnows and grubs for walleye. Fishing was good using baby brush hogs, crank baits, jerk baits, swim baits, senkos, grubs and sweet beavers for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using cut bait, homemade dough bait, hot dogs, dead minnows and chicken liver for catfish. We had no other reports.
Escondida Lake: Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver, hot dogs, night crawlers and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 67 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Glenwood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Roberts: Fishing was very good using worms, senkos, tubes, grubs and crank baits for largemouth bass. Fishing was very good using spoons, Fire Balls, worms and PowerBait for trout. Chris Martinez of Las Cruces caught a 19-inch Gila trout June 3. He also caught several rainbows and largemouth bass. He was using spoons. Fishing was very good using homemade dough bait, chicken liver and night crawlers for catfish. We had no other reports.
Percha Dam: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Quemado Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using spoons, jerk baits and swim baits for tiger muskie. Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes, spoons, and wooly buggers for trout. We had no other reports.
Rancho Grande Ponds: Fishing was fair to good using spinners and PowerBait for trout. Fishing was fair using worms and liver for catfish. We had no other reports.
Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 2,350 cfs. Fishing in the San Marcial area was very good using chicken liver for catfish. Fishing below Elephant Butte and Caballo was fair to good using night crawlers, liver and cut bait for catfish. Fishing was fair using minnows and grubs for walleye. We had no other reports.
Snow Lake: Fishing was good Pistol Petes, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.
Young Pond: Fishing was fair using worms and homemade dough bait for catfish. Fishing was good using worms for small bluegill. We had no other reports.

Southeast

Alto Lake: Fishing was good using liver and night crawlers for catfish. Fishing was good using night crawlers Gulp eggs and PowerBait for trout. We had no other reports.
Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday was 19 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Blue Hole Park Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage.
Bosque Redondo Lake: Fishing was fair to good using liver, night crawlers and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had one report of a largemouth bass caught but no other information.
Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Brantley Lake: Anglers are required to catch and release all fish here as high levels of pesticides have been found in some fish. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Carlsbad Municipal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Chaparral Park Lake: Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver and prepared bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
El Rito Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Eunice Lake: Fishing was good using chicken liver, homemade dough bait, garlic cheese and worms for catfish.
Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was good using night crawlers, liver and homemade dough baits for catfish. We had no other reports.
Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was very good using night crawlers, liver, dough bait and PowerBait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait for trout. Fishing was fair using worms for bluegill. Fishing was fair using shrimp, worms and crawdads for catfish. We had no other reports.
Jal Lake: Fishing was good using worms and liver for catfish. We had no other reports.
Lake Van: Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver, blood bait and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was very good using worms, homemade dough bait and blood baits for channel catfish up to 6 pounds. We had no other reports.
Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday was 133 cfs. Fishing was fair using liver, cut bait and worms for catfish. We had no other reports.
Perch Lake: Fishing was fair using chicken liver, worms and dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Ruidoso River: Stream flow at Hollywood on Monday was 7.0 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was good using senkos, tubes, swim baits, jerk baits and crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. A few were also taken on top water lures. Fishing was fair using minnows, curly tail grubs and crank baits for walleye. Fishing was fair using small tubes, grubs and minnows for crappie. Fishing was fair using cut bait and chicken liver for catfish. We had no other reports.
Sumner Lake: Fishing was fair to good using curly tail grubs, crank baits, bottom bouncer minnow rigs and jig and minnow combinations for walleye. Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, tubes, worms, minnows and senkos for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, grubs and minnows for white bass.
