Visiting Santa Fe Prep hands Pojoaque Valley a 10-0 loss in girl’s soccer Tuesday Afternoon

 Elkettes’ extends their losing streak to 30. Capital High boys win, Prep sweeps Pojoaque, and Santa Fe High and St. Michael’s lose

The streak continues for the Pojoaque Valley girl’s soccer team, but in the wrong direction.

Tuesday’s 10-0 defeat against visiting undefeated Santa Fe Prep was the 30th in a row for the Elkettes, whose last win was 1-0 over Las Vegas Robertson in the next-to-last match of 2016. It dropped their record 0-10-1 and upped the Griffins to 8-0-1 overall and 4-0 in District play.

This was the ninth time Pojoaque has been shut out this season. It played the past two seasons under Angelo Montoya and replaced him with Steve Baca for this campaign.

St. Michael’s girls took to the road and shut down Las Vegas Robertson, 8-0. Seniors Tianna Boca and Megan Burnham and freshman Oliver Farrar scored a goal each and junior Alice Pitard and freshman Milena Keene shared the goalkeeping. The Lady Horsemen are 9-5 overall and 2-1 in district.

At Albuquerque Del Norte, Capital High lost 2-1 in a pair over overtimes. The Jaguars scored its goal in the first half and the Knights tied things in the second half. After a scoreless initial overtime, they tallied the winner. Capital fell to 5-9 overall and 0-2 in District 2-5A.

At Albuquerque Eldorado, Santa Fe High took an 8-1 setback to drop to 3-12 overall and 0-5 in District 2-6A. Eldorado scored five times in the first half and added three more in the second.

At Santa Fe Indian School, the Braves bowed to Albuquerque Bosque School, 10-0, with the Bobcats scoring five times in each half. Indian School is now 2-12-1 overall and 0-4 in district.

Los Alamos took a 3-1 loss at Albuquerque Academy and is now 11-4 overall and 1-1 in 2-5A. It led 1-0 after the first half, but the Chargers scored all their goals in the second half to advance to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in district.

The Hilltopper boys also lost 3-1 at Academy. It was 1-all after one half and the Chargers scored twice after that to up their record to 8-4-1 overall and 2-0 in district. Los Alamos now stands at 11-5 overall and 1-1 in district.

At Pojoaque Valley, Santa Fe Prep emerged with a 5-0 triumph. Backup keeper Jack Mitchell earned the shutout and the Griffins are now 7-2-2 overall and 6-0 in district. The Elks are 3-8 overall and 0-5 in district.

St. Michael’s boys lost 2-1, at Las Vegas Robertson and dropped to 5-6-2 overall and 2-3 in district. The Cardinals have won five of five in district and are 8-5 overall.

In a match at the MRC rugby field, Monte del Sol blanked Questa, 7-0, to up its mark to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in district.
