Santa Fe, N.M. – For the 10th straight year, Nusenda Credit Union is partnering with KOAT Channel 7 to collect coats at its 19 branch locations statewide. “KOATs for Kids” has become one of the largest coat drives in New Mexico, helping to keep thousands of kids warm during the winter season.

Each year, Nusenda helps to collect between 15,000 and 20,000 coats; and KOAT Channel 7 estimates that since the program’s inception 28 years ago, it has distributed more than 320,000 coats with the help of its community business partners.

“This coat drive helps students statewide by keeping them warm and healthy during the winter season,” said Shana Runck, Nusenda’s AVP of community relations and financial capabilities. “For many kids in New Mexico, these donated coats are the only ones they will own.  It’s important to us and to our member-owners to support and participate in this drive, which helps make a difference in the lives of thousands of New Mexico children each year.”

Interested donors can help in two ways – either by dropping off new or gently used coats at any Nusenda branch between November 24 and December 30, or by making a cash donation at a branch. Coats will be purchased with the donated funds and also distributed to children in need.

Nusenda’s Santa Fe branch is located at 1710 St. Michaels Dr., east of Llano.
