Santa Fe Community College Hosts Basketball Tournament Memorial Fundraiser

SANTA FE, NM – Santa Fe Community College hosts a its second annual memorial fundraiser basketball tournament in honor of first basketball coach and longtime faculty member Gerald Clay Fri. and Sat., April 6 and 7 beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday. The play will be half court and timed, and the tournament will be double elimination. Registration is open online at www.newmexicosportsonline.com through Sunday, April 1 for the three-on-three basketball tournament to take place at the William C. Witter Fitness Education Center, 6401 Richards Ave.

Teams of no more than 4 players may register for three different levels of league play: fun, recreational or competitive. The entrance fee is $100 per team and registration must be completed online (www.newmexicosportsonline.com). A mandatory team representative meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Wed., April 4 at the Fitness Center. There will also be 3-pointer and free throw contests with prizes and live entertainment. Registration includes a T-shirt and accessories. Team members must be 16 years of age or older and must sign a liability waiver. Donations without registration are also accepted, with checks payable to Santa Fe Community College Foundation. Spectators are welcome with $1 entrance fee.

Gerald Clay, longtime SFCC faculty member, who remained active at the college as an active adjunct faculty member after retirement passed away in August of 2016.
