SUNDAY in SANTA FE: Udall to Deliver Remarks at Veterans Day Ceremony

By Tom Udall Press Office

On Sunday, November 11, 2018, U.S. Senator Tom Udall will join veterans, service members, and their families at the Santa Fe Veterans Day Ceremony commemorating the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I. At the ceremony, Udall will deliver remarks honoring the brave men and women from New Mexico and across the United States who have sacrificed to defend our values and protect our freedoms.

Throughout his career, Udall has been a strong advocate for New Mexico’s veterans and service members. While serving in the House of Representatives, he was a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee. As a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, he has championed expanding access to stable, safe housing and quality health care, including mental health services, for New Mexico veterans, especially in rural communities. He has also fought hard to secure strong funding for New Mexico’s military bases, providing them with the resources necessary to successfully carry out their missions. Udall has continued to strengthen the Open Burn Pit Registry Act, which he cowrote, to help ensure that veterans receive appropriate care and treatment for illnesses and conditions related to breathing fumes from open-air burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan.
