Santa Fe High home to Los Alamos Thursday in rematch of 3-3 boy’s soccer tie won by the Hilltoppers on penalty kicks at the Albuquerque Academy Invitational

Tough loss for the Santa Fe High boy’s soccer team.

 

Deadlocked with Los Alamos at 3-3 after regulation at the Albuquerque Academy Invitational, the Hilltoppers won 3-2 on penalty kicks to finish fifth in the tournament.

 

Also in the Invitational, the Demons (3-2-2) had no problem turning back Piedra Vista, 6-1, with striker Kiran Smelser following up his previous hat trick with a pair of goals, and Michael Wissman scoring once from 25 yards out.

 

Thursday, Santa Fe High will play host to Los Alamos in a rematch.

 

In other boy’s matches, Taos disposed of Monte del Sol, 7-1, Albuquerque Bosque Charter won handily over Robertson, 5-1, Albuquerque Oak Grove shut down West Las Vegas, 7-0, as did Questa by a 4-0 score, Socorro rolled over Rehoboth, 6-1, and Rio Rancho took a 3-1 win over Albuquerque Sandia Prep.

 

In girl’s soccer, East Mountain edged Santa Fe Prep, 3-2. Albuquerque Sandia Prep got past Los Alamos, 3-1, and also won 2-0 over Roswell, Socorro blanked Rehoboth, 4-0, Robertson dominated Pojoaque Valley, 10-0, Taos did the same versus Monte del Sol, 10-0, it was Bosque Charter nipping Robertson, 3-2, and Los Alamos shutting down Goddard, 3-0.

 

In volleyball, it was Pojoaque Valley winning the annual Tournament of Champions tournament at Santa Fe High by sweeping Albuquerque Hope Christian, 3-0. Before that the Ekketts downed host Santa Fe High, 3-1, and the Demonettes got past co-host Capital, 3-0.

 

Then it was 3-0 sweeps for Goddard over Los Alamos, Farmington over Santa Fe Prep, Los Lunas over Robertson, Los Alamos over Belen, Robertson over Valencia, Bloomfield over Santa Fe Indian School, and the Braves also fell 3-0 to Santa Fe Prep.

 

In cross-town girl’s soccer on tap, Capital is at St. Michael’s Tuesday, the same day, unbeaten Academy of Technology and The Classics visits West Las Vegas, Santa Fe High at Los Alamos Thursday, and on Saturday, St. Michael’s visits Santa Fe Prep at Sun Mountain Field.

 

Boy’s soccer also has St. Michael’s at Capital Tuesday, Los Alamos at Santa Fe High Thursday, Monte del Sol at Capital Thursday, and Monte del Sol hitting the road to Socorro Friday, and Santa Fe Prep at St. Michael’s Saturday.

 

In volleyball, there’s St. Michael’s at Capital Tuesday, and on Saturday the annual Santa Fe Indian School Pink Classic includes a field of Santa Fe Prep, Desert Academy, Monte del Sol, and Moriarty.

 

In cross country Friday, Santa Fe Indian School and Pojoaque Valley run at the Laguna-Acoma Invitational. On Saturday, Capital is at Belen, and St. Michael’s, Santa Fe Prep, ATC, Espanola Valley, and Taos head for the Ron Valdez Memorial Invitational at Pecos.
