Catches of the week

Grindstone Reservoir: Mary Mendoza of Roswell caught a 22-inch 5-pound 12.5-ounce rainbow trout using six-pound test line with a size 16 gold treble hook baited with yellow corn-scented PowerBait Dec. 6.
Red River: Tom and Bev Colvin and Thomas and Cheryl Ritcherson of Black Lake caught their limits of rainbow trout ranging in size from 12 to 18-inches using orange and green PowerBait Dec. 6.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: Jon Gonzalez of Santa Fe caught and released a 24-inch, 4.76-pound rainbow trout trolling a Super Duper lure Dec. 6.
Tingley Beach: Freddy Cogburn, age 5, of Albuquerque caught his first three rainbow trout using garlic-scented PowerBait on his birthday Dec. 1.

Red River

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Charette Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron Monday morning was 7.75 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Clayton Lake: The lake is closed to fishing and boating until March 1, 2020.
Conchas Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla Monday was 12.1 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Eagle Nest Lake: The south boat ramp was the only fishable area from the bank this past week and fishing for trout was very good using PowerBait. The lake is closed to boating and ice fishing due to recent weather conditions that have produced unsafe lake conditions. The lake is currently closed to all watercraft including canoes, kayaks, and inflatables as well as all types of motor boats. A layer of ice has formed over portions of the lake; however, these conditions currently prohibit boating or ice fishing activities. Park staff will continue monitoring ice conditions and will advise when the lake is safe for ice fishing. Fishing from the shore is only permitted where open water touches the shore.
Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fawn Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Maloya: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Monastery Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.
Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos Monday morning was 31.8 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using worms and nymph flies.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery Monday morning was 41.2 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using flies and orange and green PowerBait.
Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge Monday morning was 619 cfs. Fishing for trout was slow using streamers.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow Monday morning near Valdez was 10.0 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: Stream flow Monday morning was 7.63 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco Monday morning was 9.28 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing for trout was fair to good using Rapala Countdown lures and Super Duper lures.
Shuree Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Fishing is open on the Valle Vidal, including Shuree Ponds, July 1-Dec. 31.
Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Ute Lake: Fishing for white bass was fair to good using blade baits in 35 to 40 feet of water. Fishing for walleye was fair to good using blade baits in 40 to 45 feet of water. We had no reports on other species. The main lake watercolor was clear and the water temperature was 45 degrees.

Northwest Fishing Report

Freddy

Abiquiu Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Due to low water levels anglers are advised to use four-wheel drive vehicles to launch boats and watch for obstructions on the water.
Animas River: Water flow below Aztec Monday morning was 271 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing for trout was fair to good using rainbow-colored PowerBait.
Bluewater Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Winter trout stocking is underway; the Department plans to stock 6,000 catchable size rainbow trout per month from November through March.
Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Canjilon Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 318 cfs and 109 cfs respectively. We had no reports this week from below El Vado Lake. Fishing for trout below Abiquiu Lake was good using egg-pattern flies, salmon eggs and worms.
Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fenton Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Remember that only two cutthroat trout are allowed to be harvested per day within the regular five fish limit.
Heron Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez Monday morning was 27.4 cfs. Fishing for trout above and below Battleship Rock was good using mop flies and worms.
Laguna del Campo: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Manzano Lake: Fishing for trout was good using corn-colored PowerBait and salmon eggs.
McGaffey Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Kokanee salmon snagging season is open from Oct. 1 – Dec. 31. We had no reports on other species.
San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
San Juan River: Stream flow Monday morning was 558 cfs. Fishing in the quality waters for brown trout was good using small size 22 brown foam wing emergers, black zebra midges, crystal midges and blood worm patterns. Fishing for rainbow trout in the Texas Hole was good using dead drifting green, black and white bunny leeches.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week. Last Saturday about half of the pond was frozen and half was fishable.
Tingley Beach: Fishing for trout was fair to good using garlic-scented PowerBait in the kids’ pond.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
