Buckman Road Recycling & Transfer Station (BuRRT) and Caja del Rio Landfill will reduce operating hours

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the Buckman Road Recycling & Transfer Station (BuRRT) and Caja del Rio Landfill will reduce operating hours, effective Monday, March 23, 2020.

BuRRT will be open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, seven days a week. Customers should limit themselves to one load per day.

 

Caja del Rio Landfill will be open from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 7:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday.

 

The reduced hours will remain in effect until further notice.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), coronavirus is thought to spread between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet), or via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

We request that customers who are sick do not use either facility. Customers should protect themselves when using the landfill or BuRRT by maintaining the recommended 6-foot social distance to reduce coronavirus transmission risks. The Agency has directed its staff to limit hand-to-hand and other close interactions with customers.

Customers are reminded that the landfill and BuRRT accept trash and recycling from hospitals, medical offices, schools, residences, and other locations where people could be sick with COVID-19. OSHA does not believe there is an elevated risk of COVID-19 transmission to our employees, customers, or haulers by disposing of waste or recycling. We will continue to monitor potential risks.
