DISTRICT 2-3A CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS

Both the St. Michael’s girls and boys qualified for the state cross country championships at Albuquerque Academy after winning the District 2-3A titles on Saturday morning.
For the girls, undefeated Lady Horsemen 8th-grader Raylee Hunt won for the third-straight time when she finished first in 19:37,with four of her teammates behind her. Second was senior Paris Dixson in 24:59, next came 8th-grader Lauren Barela in 27:31, fourth was 8th-grader Lauren Patton in 27:47, and fifth was senior Mia Romero in 30:35.
In the boys race, Raton senior Chase Kemp placed first in 18:17, with St. Michael’s senior Dennis Ortiz the runner-up in 18:45. Third place went to Horsemen junior Ryan Kuhn in 19:10, next came St. Michael’s 8th-grader Jaden Perea in 19:38.41, fifth place was by junior Dennis Martinez in 19:38.63, and right behind him was Horsemen sophomore Irvin Loya in 20:33.
The girls scored 10 points to outdistance Raton, and the boys outscored the Tigers, 14-25. Chase Kemp’s twin, Chance Kemp, came in seventh, and both stand 5-foot-3 and tip the scales at 110 pounds. Chance’s time was 20:42.
