SANTA FE HIGH FOOTBALL

By Arnie Leshin
With starting quarterback Luc Jaramillo sidelined with a knee injury, fellow junior teammate Martell Mora took over the offense as Santa Fe High rolled to a 40-0 win up at Los Alamos Friday night.
It evened the Demons’ record at 1-1 after an opening loss at home to Rio Rancho, And thanks to Mora and the defense led by linebackers Daniel Wright and Matthew Maestas, they ran up a 34-0 lead at halftime and coasted the rest of the way.
Mora ran for four touchdowns, one for 10 yards and the others a good deal longer. He tallied three times before halftime, and totaled over 100 yards rushing and  receiving, with sophomore Andrew Allen starting at quarterback and doing his part.
“Allen did well,” said Santa Fe High head coach Andrew Martinez, “With injuries in that position, he comes in as our fourth stringer, but don’t let that fool you, he did just fine.”
Martinez said he’s hopeful that some of the injured kids that did not play will return for Friday  night‘s home game at Ivan Head Stadium against cross-town rival Capital High, and that includes Jaramillo.
It was the second defeat for the Hilltoppers following last week’s domination by Capital on the road.
