What: SFCC library talk on the present and the future of education.

Description:  We hear that the U.S. public education system is failing, especially for the less privileged. Can we use science to ensure that our next generation of professionals, social leaders, and workers of all kinds acquire the skills and knowledge they need to understand and fulfill our environmental and human needs?

Who:  SFCC Faculty member Stephen DeGiulio, Ph.D., professor of Teacher Education & TESOL.

When:  2:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 20

Bios/Additional Facts:  Stephen DeGiulio, Ph.D., has been college faculty and a schoolteacher in the U.S., Mexico, and India, and is presently professor of Teacher Education at SFCC. He holds a Ph.D. in Critical Pedagogy & Bilingualism and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Dr. DeGiulio’s pedagogy is informed by research into Caleb Gattegno’s Science of Education; the musical traditions of North India; and alternative schools based on the insights of Rabindranath Tagore, Maria Montessori, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Paolo Freire and others who value the development of creative agency over social conditioning.
