CAPITOL CITY TRACK & FEILED MEET

Los Alamos had a good time at Saturday morning‘s annual Capitol City track and field meet, its girls won 14 events, the boys 12.
But locally in the girls field, it was another good performance by Santa Fe Prep freshman Emily Kurth when she finished first in the triple jump with a best hop, step and jump of 28-11.50, and she placed fifth in long jump by going 13-05.75.
Her junior teammate, Isabel Voinescu, came in third in both the 100 and 200 meters, dashing 12:97 in the shorter sprint, and 27:15 in the 200. She added a fourth place in the javelin with a throw of 83-06.
Griffins’ freshman Helen Desmond went up and over the high jump bar with a third-place 4-8. Then there was Prep junior Leanna Motelet also taking third in the javelin by going 7-feet.
Santa Fe High ran second in the 4 x 100 (53:97) (and third in the 4 x 200 (2:00.18), and its junior, Lili Gadret, ran fourth in the 800 in 2:48.03, and third in the 1,600 in 5:51.26.
Then there was the boys, with first places going to Santa Fe High junior Harrison Ostenberg in the 100 meters and Santa Fe Prep junior Finn Coles in the high jump.
Ostenberg sped 11:29 to nip second-place Los Alamos senior Tyler Wein, who went 11:30, and Coles went over the bar at 6-04to win handily over runner-up Griffin senior Sebae Schriber and third place junior teammate Harry Browning, with both turning in 5-10 jumps.
Prep junior Halan Gurler-Hatch won the triple jump by going 38-06 and was third in the long jump with a best of 18-22.5. Fourth was Schriber in the triple jump (32-01).
There was a second place for Capital junior Lucas Rosa in the 200, and he dashed 23:49, and senior teammate Jesus Escarceca was the runner-up in the 400 by running 53:63.Third in the 800 was Griffin senior Lewis Sisler in 2:05.81.
Third place in the 3,200 went to Demons’ junior Tanner Black in 11:17.67, and in the 1,600, senior teammate Isaiah Velasquez ran fourth behind three Los Alamos runners and timed 5:01.05.
In the relays, Santa Fe High came in second in the 4 x 800 in 9:07.90, third in the 4 x 400 in 3:55.23, and also third in the 4 x 100 in 45:29.
The field was composed of host Santa Fe High, Capital, Santa Fe Prep, Bernalillo, Taos, Cottonwood Classical Prep, Los Alamos, and Academy of Technology and The Classics.
