Can’t forget Little League softball

Notice from Little League softball provides all you need to know in regard to the present World Series that will not include an international field.
“Just to let you know that this Little League Softball World Series will be limited and will not include international teams due to safety and well being of the teams, families and volunteers after navigating the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and finding a way to play the event.”
They’ve also switched sites for the Junior Little League that previously played in Kirkland, Wash., and are now playing at Stallings Stadium in Greenville, S.C.
The Regionals are done and the winners moved on to the World Series also played In Greenville.
In the East, it was New York winning all four of its starts by edging New Jersey, 1-0, in the final.
In the West, Nevada went 3-0 and blanked Arizona, 10-0, in the final.
In the Central, Missouri was at the top of the heap, won its three outings, and shut down Indiana, 6-0, in the final.
In the Southeast, it was Virginia losing only to host North Carolina and winding up at 3-1 by nipping Virginia, 3-2, in the final.
In the Southwest, Oklahoma won its three starts and then got past Texas West, 8-5, for the second time in the finals.
Then came the World Series where both the winners and losers in region finals advanced to the final round.
In the opening round, Nevada topped Indiana, 11-3, Virginia turned back Missouri, 4-1, Oklahoma disposed of New Jersey, 3-1, North Carolina got past Indiana, 7-0, New York blanked Arizona, 4-0, Texas shut down New York, 2-0, Oklahoma routed North Carolina, 10-0, Virginia toppled Arizona, 4-1, Nevada turned in a 5-2 win over New Jersey, and Missouri beat Texas, 5-3.
In other games, it was Missouri over Arizona, 6-0, Oklahoma over Nevada, 9-4, Texas over Nevada, 4-2, New Jersey over Indiana, 2-0, Virginia over New York, 6-0, Texas over Arizona, 11-1, North Carolina over New Jersey, 5-2, and Missouri over New York, 2-0.
Play continues Monday, with the semifinals to take the field on Wednesday, and the championship contest on Thursday.
No clear-cut favorite, but the teams that have played real well have been unbeaten Oklahoma and Missouri, both 3-0, and Texas and Virginia have won three of four. Oklahoma and Missouri also went undefeated in its regions.
