NM HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL WRAP

It was a stellar effort by Santa Fe Indian School’s girls senior Jordan Torres as she tossed in the game-high 18 points that included a pair of 3s in the Monday nightDistrict 2-3A 40-20 win at West Las Vegas.
It brought the Braves overall record to 16-5 overall and 5-2 in district as senior Cameron Connors added nine rebounds in dropping the Dons to 8-12 overall.

The Indian School boys, thought, lost 71-63 to visiting West Las Vegas, with the Braves now at 8-12 overall and the Dons at 10-12.
In non-district play, Pecos swept past the visitors from Mesa Visa, the girls turning in a 38-23 triumph to up their overall mark to 9-13 and also avenged a previous 47-44 setback at Mesa Visa, which dropped to 14-6 after the opener of the doubleheader.
It was a 9-9 deadlock after one quarter at Pecos, but the Panthers gained a 19-11 halftime advantage, upped it to 28-17 after three quarters, and outscored Mesa Visa, 10-4, over the final eight minutes.
In the closer, it was a 72-34 rout for the Panthers as they won their 10th-straight contest and advanced to 18-6. In 6-2A district play, Pecos has won all five of its starts, while Mesa Visa has now lost seven in a row overall and is 9-12.
In 5-5A boys at Capital, it was Albuquerque Manzano coming away with a 50-42 triumph, and in 2-2A boys, Academy of Technology and The Classics rolled past East Mountain on the road, 53-33.
At Raton in 2-3A, it was a 58-33 Tigers victory over visiting Santa Fe Indian School, and in 2-2A, it was no contest as Monte del Sol’s boys romped over the visitors from Albuquerque Native American Community Academy, 72-22.
