Santa Fe National Forest Offices Closed for Labor Day

All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, in observance of the federal Labor Day holiday. Offices will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022.

SFNF officials anticipate a significant increase in visitors to the forest as people enjoy the outdoors and all the wonders the SFNF has to offer. If you plan to visit the forest, know before you go and plan ahead. Monsoons remain a possibility. Check the weather forecast and be prepared for seasonal fluctuations in temperature and the potential for flash flooding.

In advance of the three-day holiday weekend, the Forest Service offers the following tips to help visitors enjoy their visit.

Visitors are encouraged to recreate responsibly and follow “Leave No Trace” principles:

·        Plan ahead and prepare

·        Travel and camp on durable surfaces

·        Dispose of waste properly

·        Leave what you find

·        Minimize campfire impacts

·        Respect wildlife

·        Be considerate of other visitors
