St. Michael’s girls soccer team evened its record

Senior midfielder Grace Sandoval scored a pair of goal and freshman striker Sophia Miera added a goal and two assists as the St. Michael’s girls soccer team rolled past visiting Taos, 6-0, at the Christian Brothers Athletic Complex.
It evened the Lady Horsemen, which has won a state championship and was runner-up the past two seasons under head coach Alfonso Camarena.
Camarara said his team had about 20 shots on goal to one for the non-conference Tigers.
“We dominated the entire,” he said, “and could have had so many more goals.”
In other girls soccer, Santa Fe High brought its record to 2-1 by shutting down Santa Fe Prep, which lost for the first time in three outings and plays next at Taos Thursday.
The Demonettes, who play next at Los Alamos Thursday, received stellar efforts from Jazzi Gonzalez, Asha Smelser and Lilly Earnest.
In boys soccer, it was again Santa Fe High versus Prep and it resulted in a 7-2 win for the undefeated Demons, now 3-0 with a game Saturday against visiting Los Alamos. In the initial defeat for the Griffins, they dropped to 3-1 is home to Taos Thursday.
