It’s to the soccer state tournament

The Santa Fe High girls soccer team heads right to its pitch Tuesday afternoon when it plays the first round of the state high school tournament  against visiting No. 12 Clovis.

This match time in Class 5A is scheduled for 5 o’clock for the 5th seeded Demonettes against the No. 12 seeded Clovis. 

Also in the eight-team first round bracket of 5A is No. 11 Hobbs, No. 6  Albuquerque Volcano Vista, No. 11 Los Lunas, No. 7 Albuquerque High, No. 9 Las Cruces and No. 8 Mayfield and No. 8 Albuquerque Sandia.

These winners will then gain the quarterfinals against the four top seeds.

On Friday afternoon in 1A/3A girls, fourth-seeded St. Michael’s will play host to No. 5 Santa Fe Prep in a 4 o’clock scheduled start. In a slated 3:30 start, No. 7 West Las Vegas from the Lady Horsemen’s 2-3A district, will head for No. 2 Albuquerque Bosque Charter School. 

The Saturday slate has No. 9 Hatch Valley at top-seeded Albuquerque Sandia Prep at 1 p.m., and No. 6 East Mountain heading to No. 3 Ruidoso in an 11 a.m. match.

In boy’s play, No. 3 Robertson out of 2-3A will play host to No. 12 Albuquerque Oak Grove on Friday at 3 p.m. 

On Saturday, Santa Fe Prep out of the same district as the five seed travels to No. 4 Rehoboth Christian in a noon start. In 4A, 11th-seeded Taos has an opening match set for Tuesday, 1 p.m., at 6th-seed Santa Teresa.
