The Regional Emergency Communications Center (RECC) is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its new facility, designed to enhance emergency response capabilities and prioritize the well-being of its public safety telecommunicators. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on July 29, 2024, at 10:00 am, located at 23 Camino Justicia Santa Fe, New Mexico 87508.
The RECC is an integrated call and dispatch center committed to providing prompt and efficient response to both emergency and non-emergency calls for the Santa Fe Region. The center is responsible for dispatching multiple public safety agencies, including the Santa Fe Police Department, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Fe Fire Department, Santa Fe County Fire Department, Town of Edgewood Police Department, San Miguel County Fire, and Village of Pecos Fire Department. Additionally, the RECC handles dispatch services for the City, County, and Town of Edgewood Animal Control.
The completion of the new emergency dispatch center signifies a major leap forward for the County, City, and Town. This state-of-the-art facility empowers dispatchers with cutting-edge equipment, including modernized dispatch consoles and redundant systems. This ensures uninterrupted 9-1-1 service, even during emergencies, allowing for a swifter and more effective response to critical situations, ultimately improving public safety for our communities.
Thriving at Work: The new center prioritizes employee well-being with a design that fosters health, collaboration, and productivity. The facility features calming colors, a decompression room, and a fully equipped break room with a range/stove to provide employees with healthier meal options during their 12-hour shifts. Additionally, a dedicated conference and training room will support staff meetings, ongoing education, and collaboration. The administrative staff will benefit from individual offices, ensuring a private and focused environment that enhances productivity.
“We are excited to open the doors to the new RECC which showcases our commitment to public safety and the well-being of our dedicated first responders,” said Roberto Lujan, RECC Director.
The community is invited to join intergovernmental leaders at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour the new facility. Refreshments will be served, and guests will have the opportunity to meet the team behind the RECC’s dispatch services. All attendees are welcome to park at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility parking lot or alongside Camino Justicia.
