Santa Fe National Forest expands Scan & Pay sites

Santa Fe, N.M., August 8, 2024- The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) is expanding Scan & Pay sites in the Jemez Ranger District. In addition to Vista Linda and Redondo Campgrounds Scan & Pay will be available at:

  • Spanish Queen Picnic Area
  • Battleship Rock Picnic Area
  • Battleship Rock Trailhead

These sites will be available on the Sean and Pay app beginning August 7, 2024. Scan & Pay allows visitors to the SFNF to scan a QR code at the site kiosk and pay for their visit directly from their mobile device. Wifi or data usage is required to download the app, but not necessary when using the Scan & Pay feature to pay for your visit. Learn more about how to use Scan & Pay by visiting: https://tinyurl.com/SCANPAYSE

The SFNF will also be increasing fees at recreation sites Forest-wide beginning spring 2025.

This revenue is invested into recreation site maintenance such as trash collection, septic and vault toilet pumping, painting, cleaning, conducting patrols, and maintaining high-use sites. In 2004, Congress passed the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, which allows the Forest Service to retain a portion of revenue collected at recreation sites to use locally to operate, maintain, and improve these sites. The complete list of recreation sites with increased fees can be found on the SENF website.

Interested in other payment options? Consider purchasing the Enchantment Pass, available at any Forest Service Office in New Mexico. This $40 pass provides fee-free access to day-use sites and trailhead parking areas on any of the five National Forests and Grasslands throughout the State. The pass is valid for one year from the date of purchase. To learn more about the Enchantment Pass, visit: https://tinyurl.com/NMenchantment.
