HB27, the “Librarian Protection Act”, is scheduled for a new committee hearing on Monday, February 17, and we need as many people as possible to provide public comments as well as send messages to the legislators! This bill forces public libraries to comply with the American Library Association’s (ALA) agenda, undermining local control and parental rights by dictating what materials can be offered, including controversial and potentially harmful content. This bill strips communities of their right to decide what is best for their children and forces taxpayers to support materials that may conflict with their values. We must act to protect local decision-making and ensure public libraries remain accountable to their communities.
