| The Paid Family Medical Leave mandate is up in committee again! Tomorrow afternoon, February 19th, at 1:30 the House Commerce and Economic Development Committee will vote on the bill.
We need your help to Protect New Mexico Families and Stop the Costly PFMLA Mandate! The Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (HB 11) is a massive new government mandate that could cost New Mexico families and businesses over $400 million if enacted. This program forces both employees and employers to pay into a state-run fund—whether they can afford it or not. And who would manage it? The same New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions that overpaid an estimated $250 million in unemployment benefits just a few years ago. For many hardworking New Mexicans, an extra tax on their paycheck—on top of rising inflation and the daily cost of living—is simply too much. Families are already struggling to make ends meet. Small businesses, the backbone of our communities, can’t afford yet another financial burden. The PFMLA is not about helping families—it’s about more government control over our paychecks and livelihoods.
