Thank you & Key Legislative Updates

As we move forward, we want to bring to your attention to several critical bills currently under consideration that we believe you and your congregations should be aware of. We encourage you to pray over these legislative efforts and engage with your congregations on how you might want to get involved.

Urgent Action Needed:

HB11 will be seen in committee Wednesday afternoon at 1:30! We need to stop this bill and protect NM churches, businesses and families! This bill will apply to all employers and employees, meaning your church, as an employer will be affected and your staff, as employees, will be affected.

Other states with similar programs have faced financial instability, cost overruns, and even higher taxes—New Mexico cannot afford to make the same mistake! HB11 is not about helping families; it’s about government control over our paychecks and livelihoods.

Urge legislators to STOP HB 11. Urge church members to use their voice in our Action Center and pray for the protection of NM churches, businesses, and families.

Key Bills to Watch:
HB380 – The Women’s Safety & Protection Act

This bill ensures the protection of women and girls by requiring separate quarters in domestic violence shelters, public schools, juvenile detention centers, and correctional facilities. Specifically, it mandates the designation of separate restrooms, locker rooms, showers, and sleeping quarters.

HB383 – Exposure to Fentanyl as Child Abuse

This bill creates a new crime category, making exposure to fentanyl a recognized form of child abuse. Given the devastating effects of fentanyl on individuals and families, this legislation is crucial in safeguarding children from harm.

HB424 – The Pregnancy & Family Care Act

This bill mandates that health care providers report the birth of infants exposed to drug abuse, ensuring that these vulnerable children receive the necessary care and protection.

SB347 – The Health Care Workers Conscience Protection Act

This legislation provides legal protections for health care workers who decline to participate in abortion or abortion-related services due to their personal or religious convictions.

SB360 – Safe Haven for Infants Act Changes

This bill enhances the existing Safe Haven for Infants Act with several provisions aimed at improving its effectiveness in providing a safe alternative for newborns in crisis situations.

SB371 – Safety Requirements for Abortions

This bill increases the requirements for abortion-related health care. There are currently no established regulations for abortion-related medical procedures; this bill would establish essential health and safety requirements that are regrettably non-existent.

We Need You!

As these bills move through the legislative process, we encourage you to educate your congregations on these critical issues.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the Gospel and to defending biblical values in our communities. Please continue to keep these matters in prayer, and do not hesitate to reach out if you need additional resources or information.
