Iran Responds to U.S. Proposal as Strikes Can Resume

Iran has responded to the recent U.S. five-point proposal as President Donald Trump once again gave the regime about a week to provide an answer. The Times of Israel reports that Iranian media and mediators have described the U.S. list of conditions as “excessive.” The announcement comes as Israel and the United States reportedly prepared over the weekend for new military operations that could begin as early as this week.

“As we announced yesterday, our concerns were conveyed to the American side,” Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said during a press briefing Monday.

Exchanges are “continuing through the Pakistani mediator,” he said, without providing details.

Baghaei defended Iran’s demands, including the release of Iranian assets frozen abroad and the lifting of long-standing sanctions. “The points raised are Iranian demands that have been firmly defended by the Iranian negotiating team in every round of negotiations,” he said.

He also defended an Iranian stipulation that the US pay war reparations, describing the conflict as “illegal and baseless.”

On the possibility of another military confrontation, Baghaei said Iran is “fully prepared for any eventuality.”

Iran’s security authority also announced the creation of a new body to manage the Strait of Hormuz, which would require vessels to pay the regime for passage. In addition, the regime has threatened Gulf nations with ties to the Jewish state and warned against cooperation after reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United Arab Emirates during the war.

The proposal submitted by the United States reportedly requires Iran to maintain only one operational nuclear site and transfer its enriched uranium stockpile to the United States or a third party. President Trump warned that “the clock is ticking” for Tehran to provide an answer or counteroffer. Trump and Netanyahu reportedly met yesterday to discuss the matter following the President’s trip to China.

The Fellowship and our supporters pray for stability in the region and for Israel during this uncertain time, and that all efforts will ultimately lead to peace, shalom.
