Send Your Prayer to the Western Wall in Jerusalem

For thousands of years, Jerusalem has been a place where people have cried out to God in prayer.

Today, one of the most recognizable places of prayer in the city is the Western Wall, also known as the Kotel. Located in Jerusalem’s Old City, the Wall has become a sacred place of prayer for the Jewish people, where visitors regularly come to pray and place written prayer requests between its ancient stones. The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is giving people around the world an opportunity to participate in this tradition through its Prayer at the Wall ministry.

You don’t have to be in Jerusalem to send your prayer.

Through The Fellowship’s website, you can submit a prayer request that their team can take to the Western Wall in Israel. The organization describes taking these requests to the Wall and praying for those who submit them, while also praying for Israel and Jewish people around the world. (IFCJ)

God Hears Us Wherever We Pray

Of course, Christians know that we don’t need to travel to a particular place for God to hear us.

Psalm 34:17 says:

“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.” — Psalm 34:17 NKJV

God hears the prayer whispered beside your bed just as clearly as one spoken thousands of miles away in Jerusalem.

But there can still be something meaningful about knowing that a prayer you have carried in your heart is being carried physically to a place where generations have gathered to seek God.

Maybe you’re praying for your family.

Maybe you’re asking God for direction.

Maybe someone you love needs healing.

Maybe you’re facing something that nobody else knows about.

Or maybe your prayer isn’t asking for anything at all. Maybe you simply want to thank God for what He has already done.

Whatever you’re carrying, bring it before Him.

Pray for Israel, Too

This is also an opportunity to remember Israel and its people in prayer.

Scripture tells us:

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you.’” — Psalm 122:6 NKJV

As we bring our own needs before God, we can also pray for peace, protection, comfort and wisdom for those living in Israel and throughout the region.

Prayer reminds us that even when circumstances are beyond our control, they are never beyond God’s reach.

The Fellowship’s Prayer at the Wall page allows visitors to submit their own requests and also see prayer requests shared by others. Recent requests include prayers for families, provision, healing, salvation, guidance and protection for Israel. (IFCJ)

Sometimes reading what another person is carrying is a reminder of just how much we all need prayer.

So today, take a moment.

Think about what has been weighing on your heart.

Write it down.

Pray over it.

And if you’d like, send that prayer to Jerusalem.

Submit your prayer through the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews’ Prayer at the Wall:

No matter where the prayer is written, no matter where it is spoken, and no matter how impossible the situation may appear, we can still come confidently before God.

Keep praying. Keep trusting. God is listening.
