The bats weren’t working for both Capital and Santa Fe High in Saturday district doubleheaders.

In 2-5A, the Jaguars lost for the 10th time in their last 11 outings, as they dropped a pair at Albuquerque Academy, 10-0 and 21-0. It was the fifth time they were shut out, and they hope to have better luck when they are home to  district rival Los Alamos Wednesday for one game.

Game one went six innings as the Chargers scored four times the first inning and that was they needed in advancing to 10-8 overall and 5-1 in district.

They came up with 10 hits and Capital was held to three in dropping to 3-16 overall and 1-4 in district.

In game two, the Jags had but one hit and allowed 13 as Academy scored three in the first, nine in the second, four in the third and five in the fourth to cut the game to five innings via the mercy-rule.

Santa Fe High suffered the same fate in its 2-6A doubleheader at Albuquerque La Cueva, losing by scores of 9-0 and 19-0. This put the Demons at 7-8 overall and 1-4 in district. They had won five in a row, but now it’s become five straight losses.
