Sales of “over-the-counter” fishing and hunting licenses for the 2022-2023 license year are underway. Anglers will need a 2022-2023 fishing license beginning April 1. If you purchased a game-hunting or game-hunting and fishing license through the 2022-2023 draw application, it is now available in your account under My Purchases. |

New Carcass Tag for 2022-2023 Hunting Season
 Turkey season will be kicking off the 2022-20223 hunting season, but it will also mark the first use of the new carcass tag. The 2022-2023 tag is a purplish color, but it is also printed on new material. The most noticeable difference is that the tag will no longer have the sticky sections. Instead, hunters must plan ahead and bring material to attach the carcass tag to their harvest. The Department recommends hunters place notched tags in a clear plastic bag, then use tape or a zip tie to attach it to the hock, leg or antler/horn. If you tape the bag, be sure not to cover up information on the tag. Here is what you need to know:
Antlerless/Female Game: Notch the month and day of harvest on the carcass tag and then attach it to the hock tendon prior to moving the animal. Turkey: Attach notched carcass tag above the spur. Bear/cougar: Notched carcass tag must be wrapped around the leg above the foot. Tags must remain attached until the animal has been pelt tagged by a Game and Fish official. Antlered and Horned Game: Notch the month and day of harvest on the carcass tag, then attach to the hock tendon prior to moving the animal. Then, notch the month and day of harvest on the antler/horn tag, then attach it to the main beam of the antler or horn where it will not slide off. |
