Back-to-back games home and away girls basketball games did not suit Santa Fe High, for after dropping a visit from Rio Rancho Cleveland Tuesday, the Demonettes headed south to lose 52-42 at the Storm on Wednesday.
It was the second time the two 5A schools went at it and both games were rather tight, with Cleveland winning the other 43-39. This loss dropped Santa Fe High’s Nate Morris’ girls to 3-9 overall while the Storm advanced to 9-6.
The Demonettes, whose next stop is a non-district contest at neighbor St. Michael’s Tuesday, have also gone 0-2 versus Rio Rancho High.
In other girls action on Wednesday, it was Albuquerque Highland getting past Albuquerque Hope Chrisitan, 62-59, and Mayfield downing Roswell, 33-28.
