Don’t Forget Your Habitat Stamp & Address Update

Important reminders for New Mexico hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

As outdoor season approaches across New Mexico, now is a great time to double-check a few important details before heading out. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is reminding sportsmen and women to make sure they have the proper documentation and current information on file.

Two small steps today can save major headaches later: purchasing your required Habitat Stamp and confirming that your mailing address is up to date.

What Is a Habitat Stamp?

The Habitat Stamp supports wildlife habitat improvement projects throughout New Mexico public lands. Funding helps maintain and improve areas used by wildlife and the people who enjoy New Mexico’s outdoors.

Hunters, anglers, and trappers using certain public lands may be required to carry a valid Habitat Stamp in addition to proper licensing requirements. Requirements vary depending on where recreation occurs. [oai_citation:0‡NMDGF](https://wildlife.dgf.nm.gov/conservation/public-land-user-stamp/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)

Quick Reminder:
Many U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands require a Habitat Stamp for use. Requirements differ by location. [oai_citation:1‡NMDGF](https://wildlife.dgf.nm.gov/conservation/public-land-user-stamp/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)

Update Your Address Before Tags Are Mailed

If your mailing address has changed recently, now is the time to update it. Incorrect information can create delays when licenses, tags, permits, or important hunting documents are mailed out.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has previously reminded customers that address updates should be completed before tags are mailed.
